The iconic Rodney Bewes, prehaps best remembered for his superb role as Bob Ferris in hit TV sitcom The Likely Lads (1960’s) and Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads (1970’s), brings his much-admired adaptation of Jerome K Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat to Theatr Mwldan on Friday 10th September at 7.30pm.

Set in 1912, Jerome recalls his japes, scrapes and narrow escapes with George and Harris on an eccentric but highly entertaining adventure on the Thames. Rodney, who plays all three characters, is accompanied by his very own Edwardian skiff and a dog on wheels called Montmorency. The popularity of Jerome K Jerome’s Three Men in a Boat has never waned since it was written; it hasn’t actually been out of print since 1889 and remains a firm, and quintessentially British, favourite.

Rodney, who is currently performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before making his way down to Theatr Mwldan, has managed to filter the much loved classic book down to a comfortable 90 minutes. The show, which picked up a Stella Artois prize at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1997, has already attracted 4* reviews for this years run, and not only sees Rodney as actor and star of the show but producer and director of it as well. He also reveals to be the ‘Stage manager, tour booker and tea boy’!

Having had an illustrious career starring in Dear Mother...Love Albert, Spring and Port Wine, Doctor Who, Father Dear Father and appearing in Harold Pinter’s A Night Out in the West End, Mr Bewes is also a keen oarsman. He rowed for London Rowing Club at Putney and Cadgwith Cove in Cornwall and is a Freeman of the city of London and a Freeman of the Company of Watermen and Lightermen of the River Thames. A useful CV indeed for Three Men in A Boat!

Don’t miss this charming and hilarious take on a British classic performed by a rather brilliant, and very on form, Rodney Bewes. Tickets are £14 (£12) and are available to book online at www.mwldan.co.uk or via the Theatr Mwldan’s Box Office on 01239 621200.
