TWO theatrically based events promoted by the recently constituted Rhosygilwen Drama Club feature in the coming week.

On Thursday, April 23, award winning Ed Thomas, founder of Y Cwnmi and director of TV hit series Hinterland talks about the challenges of making a play work on stage and screen. He will be in conversation with Elin Haf Jones from Aberystwyth University.

Ed’s work has been distributed in over 80 countries. His work appears in Welsh and English languages. The Independent has described him as ‘Unsentimental, madly imaginative, lyrical and brilliant.’ The evening will feature clips of his work.

On Sunday, April 26, at 8pm there will be a play reading of Darjeeling, a new play by Glen Peters set on a tea estate in 1968.

The play is based around the dwindling Anglo Indian community in a newly independent India. The country is struggling with its newly won freedom and members of this minority community have to choose between staying on or emigrating.

The production is by Richard Lewis Davies, direction by Andy Hickling Baker with Ben Gable, Siobhan Ashe, Gwen Watson and Charlotte Wallond and Keith Hall

Tickets for Ed Thomas are £7 whilst for Darjeeling admission is free. Tickets can be booked on line at Rhosygilwen.co.uk or by calling 01239 841387 (during office hours).
