Events coming up at Moylegrove Village Hall include a talk on Myfanwy: Moylgrove to Pennsylvania, by Clive Thomas, on January 20, 7.30pm.

Joseph Parry's father, a miner born in Moylegrove, took his family to the USA in 1854 in search of a better life. Joseph became an ironworker, but returned to Great Britain and to Wales as a composer. His stage, concert and church music are still well-known favourites.

On January 24, 7.30pm, enjoy a Burns supper and tour of Scotland with Patrick Beaumont, set to music, and view the Six Nations rugby on the big screen at the hall throughout February.

A Jazz night on February 7, 8pm, will feature the The Freewheelers, who have played in virtually every jazz club in South Wales and Bristol, as well as the Brecon and AberJazz festivals. They play the foot tapping music of the Great American Song Book plus everything from Charleston to Rock.

Anne Lewis will give a talk on Pearls in Peril on February 10, 7.30pm.

The freshwater pearl mussel used to live in millions in the rivers of N and W Britain, a well as across a wide paleoarctic range. Now, due to many human-related factors, it is close to extinction. A few thousand mussels still hang on in Wales, including a tiny handful in the River Nevern.

A Simon and Garfunkel two day singing workshop with Abbie Lathe will be held on February 21.
