Film is taking centre stage at Theatr Gwaun Fishguard, with a host of innovations and exciting events up and coming for the film buff and family fan alike.

For starters, a film that has got a lot of press attention is Northern Soul (15) which is showing from November 16 to 19 at 7.30pm (with a sneaky extra Monday morning showing at 11am. This tells the story of the dance and music movement that was very specific to the North of England, as American Soul was discovered and embraced.

The film was meant originally for a low budget minimal release, but a huge social media campaign led to much wider showings across the country.

The Hunger Games:Mockingjay – part 1 (12A), part of the hugely successful series starring Jennifer Lawrence as the leader of a rebellion against the brutal Capitol, will be shown at Theatr Gwaun from the day of its national release on November 21.

Theatr Gwaun is delighted to be part of a new initiative, autism-friendly cinema. There will be Wednesday morning showings of popular films, including Mockingjay, where the sound will be lower, lights higher, and no problems at all if audiences make some noise. This inclusive initiative costs just £3, and carers go free. Call the venue for more details.

Get your (shiny) glad rags on for Theatr Gwaun’s Sci Fi festival from December 12 to 14, with a marvellous mix of the iconic (Metropolis), camp (Flash Gordon) and classic (2001: A Space Odyssey).

Other highlights at the community venue include Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner, and Christopher Nolan’s epic Interstellar, all with fantastic sound, and pin sharp digital images.

Tickets for films are available from the Theatr Gwaun box office. For more information visit www.theatrgwaun.com or call 01348 873421.
