The hunt is on for Wales' next big name in music, with a professional recording session and a live gig up for grabs.

The Talent Cymru competition is open to any artists who compose and perform their own music in the Welsh language. There is no age limit and entries are invited from individual acts or bands from across Wales.

The winner will win a day in Ferlas Studio in Penrhyndeudraeth working alongside a professional producer as well as a live concert in Galeri during 2015.

The X Factor style competition, run by Galeri Caernarfon, was held for the first time in 2013, and is the brainchild of the event’s sponsor and music enthusiast Gwyn Owen who has been heavily involved with several arts projects a Galeri over the last few years.

He said: "The purpose of the competition is to provide a stage for the cream of Welsh music, and hopefully find some new raw talent that might otherwise not come to light.

"Unlike last year, we do ask this year that artists perform original material in the Welsh language, but beyond that it is pretty much open to anyone and everyone.

"Catrin is a perfect example of how this type of competition can be a stepping stone towards a career in music."

The closing date for online entries is October 8, with auditions held at Galeri on October 11 ahead of the live final on October 25.
