Keith James, well known for his emotive performances and his unrelenting passion for irresistible, weighty prose to be at the forefront of his music. This is a concert of Dylan’s honest and binding poems, set into song and embarking on a new journey.

The concert tour forms part of the Dylan Thomas centenary celebrations, and will come to St David’s Cathedral on August 22, Moylegrove Hall on August 9th and St Dogmaels Abbey on August 29.

Keith will be presenting these newly composed songs based on the most revered collection of works by the Welsh poet in a 50 date concert tour of solo performances called Time Let Me Play throughout the summer and autumn of this Dylan Thomas centenary year.

Keith has performed in almost every Arts Centre / Theatre across all of the UK in more than1,500 concerts during the past decade. Writers, whose poetry Keith has set to music and performed in concert are: Pablo Neruda, Leonard Cohen, Isabel Allende, Federico Garcia Lorca, William Blake, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake.

Each concert will consist of two 50 minute sets with an interval. Also included, will be a true sense of background and history to each poem, a chance to listen to a recording of Dylan himself reading his own prose, a beautifully produced and well documented programme to accompany the concert and an opportunity to hear a selection of Keith’s other poetry settings.

Classic recordings of Richard Burton and Dylan Thomas himself reading the poems in their original form will be included with the musical performance, giving context and added dimension to the concerts.

Keith said: “I have long been fascinated with the challenge of studying Dylan’s work and creating a concert of music settings. It is by far the most deeply human and brutally honest collection of writing that I have ever embarked on. Very tough, but I am enjoying the process immensely."

The material to be featured in Keith James’ concerts has been recorded in Wales and has been released as an album on CD and on-line .
