After a sell-out event and stellar performance from Trystan Llyr, Span Arts’ pilot Classical Series is reaching a melodious climax with award-winning cellist Luke Millar at the lovely Plas Hyfryd Hotel in Narberth on Thursday 1st May.
In an evening of lyricism, class and colour, Luke will be playing works by Sergei Rachmaninov, Max Bruch, Johannes Brahms, Manuel de Falla and Joseph Haydn.
Currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Luke has also been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales since the age of 14.
The Rotary Young Musician of the Year has been playing cello since he was 7, and was twice a member of the National Childrens Orchestra of Great Britain. Luke has even performed in front of HM The Queen in the West Glamorgan String Quartet.
Providing interval entertainment is local musician and artist Squidge Squires, with a repertoire of music from classic, contemporary and eastern background using his own original hand-made instruments.
Span Arts’ classical series takes place at Plas Hyfryd, a beautiful country hotel on Moorfield Road, in Narberth. The name translates into English as ‘lovely palace’, and when you enter the front entrance and are greeted by the palatial staircase, it is easy to see why.
Food is available from 6pm onwards, booking is essential and made directly through Plas Hyfryd on 01834 869006.
Tickets are cheaper in advance, and are available from the Span Arts’ Box Office on 01834 869323, or online at span-arts.org.uk
