Join the Span Arts Comedy Club for a cosy evening of belly laughs and great food as award-winning stand-up and comedy writer Nick Doody and the “lesbian Eddie Izzard,” Rosie Wilby, come to the Queens Hall, Narberth, on February 13.

Nick Doody created Radio 4’s Bigipedia; the man’s passion led him to write a biography of controversial US comic Bill Hicks… who requested the young comedian as his own support act in the UK.

Nick himself has been described as “a drunken, gagged-up Richard Dawkins, brilliantly shooting down superstitions with songs and sucker-punchlines.”

He features frequently as a guest on shows like Political Animal, and has written for 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Now Show, Charm Offensive and The Secret Policeman’s Ball. However, Nick is known mainly for his blistering and often-political live act, having kick-started his career as a finalist in Channel Four’s So You Think You’re Funny competition.

A female comedy firebrand is welcomed to the night too: the “fast flowing and very entertaining” Rosie Wilby. Having previously toured her award-winning show The Science of Sex at sell-out dates across the UK, the “Funny Women” finalist is in her prime, having performed at festivals like Latitude and Glastonbury, with her “thoughtful, intimate, and warmly entertaining comedy.”

Rosie originally entered the world of comedy after touring in bands and being encouraged to step things up on the strength of her rib-tickling between-song banter. Her act includes close-to-the-bone topics on women, sex, and relationships, for which she has been roundly praised, appearing regularly on BBC Radio 4.

Compered by the talented newcomer Kevin Dewsbury, and with candle-lit cabaret dining in the interval, Span Arts’ long-running Comedy Club is the perfect night out for groups, dates, and work socials.

Tickets are available now from the Span Arts box office at span-arts.org.uk or 01834 869323. Doors are open from 7.15pm and the show starts at 8pm.
