MORE than 1,500 sites have been submitted for possible development or protection in the Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan.

The county council has published a Candidate Site Register online and at Customer Service Centres showing the sites what people have in mind.

This follows the invitation last summer for anyone with an interest to submit sites that they felt were appropriate for a range of proposals including housing, employment, tourism, retail, leisure, waste, amenity, open space, community facilities, health provision, protection from development and other uses.

The LDP will govern the way in which Carmarthenshire develops over the next 15 years, and will have an impact on the future of all area of the county. Identifying appropriate sites for development is therefore a crucial stage in preparing the Plan.

Whilst the register is available for information only, there will be a chance to comment on the final selection of sites when the Draft LDP is placed on Deposit. Before this, all the sites on the register will first be assessed and the most appropriate ones will be taken forward into the Deposit Plan.

Further information on the LDP, its timetable, process and assessment of sites is available on the council’s website at www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk following the links to planning, or by phoning 01267 228818.
