AN adventure runner who climbed 189 Welsh mountains in a month after training in the Preseli Hills says "every mile was worth it," having raised over £12,000 for charity.

Will Renwick, who ran up every mountain peak over 2,000ft (600m) in Wales, completed his run at Conwy Castle on Monday, after clocking up at least 24 miles a day.

Will had spent time in Pembrokeshire preparing for the gruelling run by running up and down Carningli - sometimes twice daily - and all over the Preseli hills

His love for the outdoors began in Pembrokeshire, while visiting his grandmother who has a cottage there, and he was based in Newport to train for his epic challenge.

Will, from Llancarfan in the Vale of Glamorgan, initially set out to raise £2,000 for charity Mind Over Mountains, but had exceeded £10,000 at time of finishing.

The 31-year-old completed the epic 500 mile challenge in three weeks, whilst carrying all his camping equipment and supplies on his back and battling very harsh conditions.

"The whole thing has been a challenge right to the bitter end, I'm worn out, all my injuries have flared up, but I just can't believe I have finished," he said at the finish.

"I was really surprised about my body and its ability to cope with such a demanding situation, especially its ability to heal itself on the go.

"I picked up an ankle injury right at the start and then a few days later I was running as if the injury had never happened.

"There have been a lot of lows, but it is all worth it to stand here at the finish line to be cheered on by strangers and raise money for a charity for such amazing things.

"Wales is really spectacular, I live in a wonderful country and I can't get enough of it. It's been really amazing to explore."

Will was raising money for Mind Over Mountains, a charity which helps those struggling with their well-being by providing them with outdoor experiences.
