TRAINING on the Preseli Hills has stood a fundraising adventurer in good stead in his attempt to become the first person to run across every single mountain in Wales, south to north, solo and unsupported.

Will Renwick, 31, is striving to be the first person to run 500 miles solo across Wales' mountains. He hopes to finish this arduous challenge today, Monday, October 4.

Will has run up 189 mountains self-supported, carrying all his gear on his back in just three weeks.

Will spent time in Pembrokeshire preparing for the gruelling run in by running up and down Carningli (sometimes twice daily) and all over the Preseli hills

He did the majority of his training in the county which also happens to be his 'favourite place in the world'.

Will's love for the outdoors began in Pembrokeshire, while visiting his grandmother who has a cottage there.

He was based in Newport to train for his epic adventure. Joined by his four legged friend Teilo.

Will's run has covered every peak in Wales over 2000ft in height, or 50m elevation. He has so far raised more than £9,500, £3,000 more than his initial goal, for outdoor mental health charity Mind Over Mountains. He aims to finish the run today, October 4 in Conwy.

"The idea of a gigantic, never-been-done-before adventure within my home country really appealed to me, especially if I tied it to a charity with a cause that's close to my heart," said Will.

"Mind Over mountains is a small charity making a big difference for people and I'm proud to be fund raising for them."

Alex Staniforth, co-founder of Mind Over Mountains added:

"We're thrilled that Will has chosen to support Mind Over Mountains through such a phenomenal challenge.

"It perfectly embodies our ethos in the power of spending time outdoors for our physical and mental well-being. Will's journey will inspire so many while enabling us to help others in need to access their own mountains and the support they need."
