Cardigan RFC made a winning start to their new campaign in Division Three West A with a solid 34-3 win over St Davids at the King George V Ground at the weekend.

Winger John Lumb went over for a try each half, with No 8 Tom Taylor and replacement winger Jack Taylor also crossing as the Teifisiders also picked up a bonus point.

Cardigan had opened up a 21-3 lead at half-time, with the boot of No 10 Shaun Leonard adding the extra points, whilst the Saints' penalty was slotted by Aaron Forster.

Newcastle Emlyn started life in the Admiral National Championship with a 40-22 loss at Brecon, despite tries from Brynmor Jones, Bedwyr Davies and Reece Morris.

Crymych also found it tough in the higher division as they were well-beaten 47-27 at home against Llangenech, despite a man of the match display from Osian Davies.

The Preseli men trailed 28-17 at half-time, despite tries from Osian Davies and Adam Phillips, with a brace, before the visitors tightened their grip in the second half.
