A Cardigan Running Club athlete has won his third Welsh championship race this year.

St Dogmaels runner David Warren won his M60 age group category in the Welsh National Road Running Championships at the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10km on 14 May. 

Runners from Cardigan Running Club also recently took on the Preseli Beast, starting from Maenclochog.

Fresh from his Welsh trail-running championship win, David Warren was first home and 3rd overall with a stunning time of 1:28:24 - and winner of the V60 category.

In total 16 club members took on the gruelling 11-mile race, while two runners tackled the 32-mile Ultra Beast, which required navigation.

Stephen Williams (14th) and Ben O'Leary (29th) were next to come in. 

Rik Selwood was 42nd, Mark Underhill 48th, Russell Williams 53rd, Robert Sharratt 78th, Jamie Evans 97th, Hannah-Mae Samson 102nd, Amanda Lettington 108th, Rhys Morgan 111th, Andrew Thomas 139th, Tracy Williams and Melanie Davies 155th/156th, Rachel Matthews 161st and Stephen Hill 164th. 

In the 32-mile Ultra Beast race, Alistair Bowen was 16th in 6:22:12 and Daf Bowen 37th in 7:58:08.

Recently, super veteran runner Davd Warren had won his age group in the Welsh Trail Running Championships at the Red Kite Challenge/Sialens y Barcud Coch.

This 14-mile race, renowned as one of the toughest and most challenging races in Wales was held in Devil's Bridge, and he finished as the 19th male and was the M60 winner.

Robert Sharratt (M60) also completed the gruelling course.

In other club news, Mandy Verall completed her first marathon when running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon in a time of 6:17:42.

Meanwhile training buddies Lindsay and Rhian Blackford recently completed the St Illtyd Ultra - a rolling 32 mile course.
