Costcutter Ceredigion League round-up / by JOHN ADEY

The Costcutter Ceredigion Football League’s division one leadership changed for the second weekend in succession when Ffostrasol went to the top after a 5-0 win over visitors Lampeter Town at Troedrhiw Park.

Under new young manager Dafydd Evans the Wanderers have been a revelation, and if they can hang on to the boss could have bright times ahead.

But the new gaffer would be the first to admit that although his charges have drawn three points clear at the head of the table, it may only be a matter of time before they are overhauled.

It was 3-0 after the opening 45 minutes at Ffostrasol, the first half goals coming via a Tomos Lloyd deflected header, striker Sion Phillips and a Steff Evans penalty for a late tackle.

As Wanderers continued to assert the authority during the second period goals from Cian Edwards and Carwyn Morgan completed the scoring.

Previous leaders and reigning champions St Dogmaels had to kick their heels after the top of the table clash at Llanboidy was called off due to an unplayable strip, and are six points adrift of the new pacesetters, but they have six games in hand.

Crymych, who swept aside doomed New Quay 6-1 at Tegryn, also have eyes on the division one title this season, with Llanboidy also in the mix.

As Crymych dominated for most of the 90 minutes against the Seasiders, Mathew Williams and Gethin Evans bagged a brace of goals apiece  and the other marksmen were Steff James and Wyn Jones.  Dylan Morgan got a consolation goal for the visitors.

Dewi Stars continued to fight for survival in the top grade with a 7-4 win against Crannog at the Urdd.

Centre forward Rupert Geddes stole the limelight for the Llanddewi Brefi side with four goals, and the other goals came courtesy of Rhodri Morgan, Dafydd James and Leon Holmes.

Mike Glover, George Cobern, Robbie Evans and Dafydd Owens replied.

The match between Felinfach and Cardigan Town was also postponed.

The solitary game in division two resulted in a 3-1 win for lowly Llandysul Reserves over visitors Aberaeron Reserves.

John Davies, Jav Johnson and Kav Poulton were the home marksmen, with Rhydian Davies replying with the goals for Aberaeron Reserves.

Llechryd’s match against Crannog Reserves and St Dogmaels Reserves’ match against Aberporth were also postponed. as was Maesglas Reserves’  fixture against Felinfach Reserves.
