The sound of leather on willow may appear a long way away during these difficult times and the weather but the Pembroke County Cricket League is hoping to launch the 2021 season on Sunday, April 25.

Hopes for a return of action were lifted when the Government decided to permit outdoor cricket at grass roots level in England as from March 29 and it is expected the same will apply in Wales.

An England Cricket Board (ECB) spokesperson said “We are continuing to work with Sport Wales and the Welsh Government for the safe return of recreational cricket as soon as possible in Wales.

“Cricket has a huge part to play in helping the country back on its feet and we will work in partnership with the Governemnt to achieve that,” said the spokesperson.
