Organisers of four running events on one day are keeping their fingers crossed that the ninth Pembrokeshire Coastal Challenge can go ahead.

The annual Preseli Beast, a race over 24 miles, and two other events in north Pembrokeshire on Saturday were postponed due to the pandemic.

But Ras Beca over a five-mile course in the Preseli Hills on Saturday, August 29, and the Challenge on Saturday, September 19, are not affected at this stage.

The coastal events start and finish in Little Haven, all run over circular routes comprising a ten kilometre race, half marathon, full marathon and ultra-marathon.

From the first Challenge in 2012 it has grown in stature and over the last few years the four races have attracted between eight hundred and a thousand competitors from various parts of the UK and abroad.

A spokesperson said “The Challenge is a long way off and we will take a closer look at the situation about six weeks beforehand.

“When that time comes we will follow Government guidelines and if the Challenge has to be postponed we’ll put it back until next year,” he said.
