Since the Welsh Rugby Union Board cancelled the 2019-20 season with no promotion or relegation in all leagues there is widespread speculation over the probable outcome of the League 1 West title race.
The WRU is considering whether to use the void fixture lists for the 2021-22 campaign – effectively replaying this season.
A source said: “No hard and fast decision has been taken but there is a view that it would be easier to implement this season’s list.”
The cancellation came at a vital time in League 1 West where Llangennech, Newcastle Emlyn and Felinfoel were the promotion candidates.
As it stood when the end was called Llangennech were in top spot three points ahead of Emlyn with Foel a further eight points adrift in third but like the Teifisiders had a game in hand on the pacesetters.
Emlyn had the superior record, having been beaten just once in 14 outings – a 26-19 reversal at Penclawdd in January – while Llangennech had their colours lowered on three occasions and Felinfoel were beaten four times.
If the campaign had continued Emlyn and the leaders would have met twice and Llan were also due to visit mid table Gorseinon and host Felinfoel.
As well as the Llangennech confrontations Alex Williams and his Emlyn team-mates were to take on fourth in the table Hendy and tackle third from bottom Llanelli Wanderers at Stradey Park.
Things would have had to go right for Felinfoel to be crowned champions, the Llanelli contenders facing a tough test against Llan where realistically nothing but outright victory would have sufficed.
