As Llechryd celebrated promotion to the Pembroke County Cricket League Division One at the weekend, all-rounder Tom Beard and his wife Anwen extended heartfelt thanks to Glamorgan Cricket Club for donating ten match tickets to help fund an operation for their young son.

Trystan Beard, aged eight, of Cilgerran, suffers from cerebral palsy (spastic diplegia) and an appeal has been launched to raise £40,000 for vital surgery which is not available on the NHS.

Ten tickets, all together at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, for the T20 clash between Glamorgan and Hampshire on Friday, August 30, are being auctioned and already a bid of £100 has been submitted.

Tom Beard said: “We would like to thank Glamorgan and everyone else involved in trying to help Trystan.”

A spokesperson for the County Championship club said “We are delighted to be of assistance and hope the fundraising is successful.”

Anyone wishing to bid for tickets or make a donation can contact Tom Beard on 07463 987932, or go online at justgiving.com/campaign/TrystanGoal4Glory.

The result is to be announced during the annual Llechryd six-a-side tournament at the RDM Oval ground on Sunday, August 25.
