Llandysul pulled out the stops as they sprang a three-wicket away win over Dafen Welfare to move into joint third in the South Wales Association Division One and put themselves in the right frame of mind for the visit of leaders Cowbridge this Saturday.

Despite resistance from opener and skipper Mathew Evans (29) Dafen lost wickets before Mathew Donoghue at number seven steadied matters with 42 and the lower order contributed as the homesters posted 190-9 in 50 overs.

Medium-pacer Llewelyn Hughes snapped three wickets for 27 runs in ten overs, four of which were maidens.

As the visitors replied Hughes carried on where he left off with the ball in making 54, which included seven fours and a towering six. He was given good support from Ieuan Paske who hit five boundaries in an unbeaten innings of 37 and Llandysul reached the target for the loss of seven wickets.

Division Five championship aspirants Llandysul 2nds suffered a setback when going down by five wickets against visitors Drefach 2nds at Tir Dref.

In a Llandysul total of 103 the main run contributor was Dafydd Jones who made 33 and Lewis Jones at number six contributed 25 before being run out.

Andrew Morgan did the damage for the visitors with figures of 5-11 in 7.4 overs.

As Drefach knocked off the runs for the loss of five wickets and banked 19 points John Anderson coming in at number four was top scorer with 38.
