A battling performance and a brilliant unbeaten century by opener Rhydian Harries gave Llandysul a 29-run win over visitors Maesteg Celtic in the South Wales Cricket Association Division One and moved the Teifi Valley villagers into fourth in the table.

Electing to have first use of a flat Tir-Dref track Llandysul went along merrily with classy former Ammanford star Harries dispatching the ball to all points of the compass and ending unbeaten on 116, an innings that included seven boundaries.

He was given great support by Gary Williams (52) as they shared an opening stand of 153 and Llandysul posted 234-4 in 50 overs to pick up 19 points.

Visiting opener and skipper Nick Poole was also in great form with the bat as he made 85 to hold the innings together before being caught by Ashley Cox off Ieuan Paske.

Ian Herbert at first wicket down contributed 33 as the innings closed on 205-8.

Llandysul Seconds are clear leaders of Division Five after a three-wicket away win over lowly Felinfoel 2nds at the Recreation Ground.

The Llanelli side made 172-4 in 40 overs with Stuart Parmenter top scorer with 57 and well-supported by wicket-keeper James Cranham who was undefeated on 54.

As the visitors reached the target for the loss of seven wickets in the 34th over and banked 17 points the main run-getters were Dafydd Jones (40), Chris Jones (38) and Joseph Swift (31).
