A 15-run defeat at the hands of Tata Streel saw Llandysul lose ground in the South Wales Cricket Association Division One championship race.

Tata Steel lost their first two wickets for 15 runs but Kelvin Bartle (26), Nathan Ferrell (39) and wicketkeeper Richard Jones (46) steadied the boat enabling their side to reach 153-8 in 50 overs.

Medium-pacer Ashleigh Cox returned figures of 4-14 in ten overs.

Llandysul lost wickets in the run chase and at one stage tottered on 28 for 5 before Hugo Laing at number seven made 35 and number eight Luke Swift contributed 40 but the Teifisiders were bowled out for 138 in the 48th over.

After excelling with the bat Ferrell snapped three wickets for 16 runs in nine overs as his side banked 18 points. There were seven points for Llandysul.

Llandysul 2nds fared better in Division Five with a two-wicket away win over Mumbles A.

Mumbles were dismissed for 136 in 39.2 overs as Dafydd Hartley, Rhys Jones, Daniel Thomas and Carwyn Jones picked up two wickets apiece.

Llandysul reached the target in the 37th over for the loss of eight wickets.
