Llandysul skipper Ben Edkins must surely have questioned his decision to put in South Wales Cricket Association Division One leaders Llanelli who posted an imposing total of 279 for six wickets and bowled out the visitors for 227 for victory by 52 runs.

As the Llandysul bowlers toiled Iwan Rees (41) and Ioan Phillips (96) shared an opening stand of 96 and there were also valuable contributions from number four batsman Rhydian Morgan (40) and Steve Devonald at number six who contributed 38.

Ashleigh Cox and Luke Swift took two wickets apiece.

The visitors made a brave attempt at chasing the total down with Ashleigh Cox at first wicket down the star with a brilliant innings of 104, which included nine fours and a six, but his side found the home total out of reach.

Chris Thomas took three wickets for Llanelli who banked 20 points while Llandysul picked up eight points.

It was an altogether different story for Llandysul 2nds who soared to the top of Division Five with an eight-wicket win over Swansea Civic Service 2nds at Tir-Dref.

Having been put in the visitors posted 114-9 in 40 overs with number four Luke Slater top scorer on 38 before being run out by Osian Thomas, the latter also snapping three wickets for 22 runs.

As Llandysul replied opener Gareth Chapple made 31 before being caught and bowled by Jon Doyle and then a stand between number three Dafydd Jones (42 not out) and Daniel Thomas (29 not out) guided the visitors to victory and a 20 points haul.
