THE first Hydro Dragon Events Teifi Valley 10k challenge organised by David Maund as part of his 2019 program of races attracted around 150 competitors.

They set out from Newcastle Emlyn, taking in Cenarth Falls before returning and finishing at the castle, having travelled from as far afield as Aberystwyth, Cardiff and Swansea to take part.

One couple who were on holiday from York decided to sign up and do the event.

The event certainly made a good impression, with many of the competitors vowing to return to the area.

The top three male runners were: 1 Steve Thomas, 2 Wayne Hoyland, 3 Christopher Smoothy. Top ladies: 1 Lynwen Huxtable, 2 Kelly Thomas, 3 Iola Evans.

Top walkers were Beth Morgan, Liz Williams, Mair Davies and Hywel William.

The next event is on May 18 and offers two choices - Lampeter to Aberaeron (21 miles) or Talsarn to Aberaeron (10 miles) and competitors can walk/jog/run.
