RUGBY PREVIEW

As Newcastle Emlyn attempt to move out of the relegation zone in the Championship very few neutrals will give them a chance of making any progress this weekend when Alex Williams and colleagues are away against unbeaten champions-elect Pontypool.

Pooler have come out on top in all 14 games and emerged 52-19 winners over the Red and Whites at Ddol Wyber on October 20.

Emlyn are level on points with Beddau at the bottom and as it stands any four of six or seven clubs will go down.

After visiting Pontypool Park the Red and Whites host Beddau in a crunch encounter and in the following weeks take on fellow relegation fighters Maesteg Quins home and away and Newbridge in the Teifi Valley.

Earlier in the season few could have foreseen Crymych making an impact in League 1 West, but the north Pembrokeshire villagers are flying high in the upper echelons and on course to finish in the top three.

The fourth-placed Preselimen are in Swansea for a head-to-head with sixth in the table Dunvant and will be intent on completing the double at Broadacre after springing a 20-18 win over their rivals at Parc Lloyd Thomas in November.

Cardigan are without a fixture in League 3 West A.
