FOOTBALL ROUND-UP
With rivals tied up in cup games, unbeaten Costcutter League Division One leaders St Dogmaels soared eight points clear of the rest and after
thrashing visitors Bargod Rangers at School Field there are those who already believe the title race is a foregone conclusion.
Even without five unavailable regulars, including central defender and inspirational skipper Jason Williams, the north Pembrokeshire villagers
turned in a classy performance with the 8-0 scoreline rather flattering Rangers who huffed and puffed but could not compete with the hosts.
It was game, set and match before the break with the homesters playing delightful one-touch football and roaring into a 5-0 lead.
As Saints banked maximum points for the eighth time on the bounce Louis Harding, Chris Morgan and Jack Thomas bagged a brace of goals apiece and the
others were netted by Peter Almond and Reece Prowse.
The pacesetters are at home again this Saturday when Felinfach, who brushed aside Dewi Stars of Division Two 7-0 in round one of Cwpan Coffa Dai
Dynamo Davies provide the opposition in a second round tie.
In Cwpan Dai, in-form Llandysul overcame the absence of a number of regulars as the Swallows sprang a 2-1 win over visiting Newcastle Emlyn in
an enthralling contest.
The absence of skipper Dean Jones and a few others could not deter them from staying unbeaten in league and cup encounters since going down against
St Dogmaels at the start of September.
Midfielder Lewis Jones put the Llandysul Park high-flyers ahead with a delightful 25-yard chip and that's how it remained until midway through the
second half when Jessie Clayton left three would-be stoppers in his wake before slotting home.
David Jones beat Nathan Jones from distance to halve the deficit but Llandysul held out.
Llanboidy reached round two of the Easter Monday League Cup after a 3-1 win over Cardigan Town at King George V Playing Field where an own goal and
strikes by Ellis Williams and Ross McDonald sent the west Carmarthenshire men through.
In the same competition Felinfach warmed up for the game on the banks of the Teifi this weekend with a thumping 7-0 win over visiting Dewi Stars
of Division Two.
Ace marksman Kieran Boyce led the way for the Milkmen with four goals while elsewhere there were wins for Aberaeron Reserves at Aberporth, Crannog
at Lampeter Town and Ffostrasol against New Quay.
