Producing bowling of an exceptionally high standard, Kevin James of Cardigan lifted the Welsh singles title for the second time at Llandrindod

Wells.

After his heroics in Powys, the 34-year-old postman is looking forward

to representing Wales at the British Isles Championships in Scotland later this year and World Championships at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club in New South Wales, Australia next March.

In the final, father-of-three James led throughout against fellow Welsh

international and 2007 winner Mark Weaver of Montgomery Bowling Club.

James grabbed glory 11 years after lifting the British Isles title

in Edinburgh and represented his county at the world event in Australia.

There was also drama off the green in 2007 when the young postie was

granted special leave to play Down Under, but unlike postman Simon Lee given three weeks paid leave to represent England in New Zealand the previous year, the Post Office refused to pay James while off work.

It caused uproar among his work colleagues and in September that year

amid claims of discrimination, postal workers made it clear that if the

decision was not reversed they would call for a ballot with a view of taking industrial action.

Shortly afterwards the Post Office had second thoughts and granted

James leave on full pay.

He did Wales proud in Australia when finishing in the top six and there

was further cause for celebration when he and his wife Louise were married on Bondi Beach in Sydney.
