In a second trial game to select a team to represent the Central Wales Football Association, a combined Costcutter League and Cambrian Tyres select XI sprang an emphatic 6-2 win over a combined Mid Wales League South and JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League XI at Newtown on Sunday.

Afterwards it was claimed a number of players were unavailable for the Mid Wales and JT Hughes side and there is a move to replay the trial game early next year, although this has not yet been ratified.

Three St Dogmaels players stood out for the Ceredigion team, namely central defender Jason Williams who was outstanding, striker Rhys Jones and goalkeeper Justin Smith, the latter suffering a rib injury and replaced by Graham Keen of Maesglas.

Second half substitute striker George Colven of Crannog netted twice and the other marksmen were Adrian Hazzelby of Newcastle Emlyn, Jason Jones of Lampeter Town who also bagged a brace and Paul Jones of Aberystwyth.
