With fielders circling the bat, Llechryd held out for a draw against Pembroke County League Division Two leaders Llangwm at the RDM Oval – but it now appears the Teifisiders' chance of promotion has evaporated.

A draw was enough to give Llangwm the title and a return to the top flight next season.

Put in on a lively strip Llangwm found difficulty piecing the field as the Teifisiders bowled line and length and produced a high standard of fielding.

James Venables held the innings together with a fine knock of 67 and was given support from William Beresford (26) as the visitors made 198 all out.

Peter and James Betterley snapped three wickets apiece.

Llechryd battled for a draw with Steve Smith leading the way with a classy innings of 49 and Michael Carter made 34 but at the close the homesters were tottering on 160-9.

Llechryd 2nds soared to the summit of Division Four after a comfortable five-wicket away win over bottom side Pembroke 2nds.

As Pembroke made 169-6 Kevin Jenkins was the mainstay with 59.

Martin Kiss and Scott Thomas picked up two wickets apiece.

The visitors reached the target for the loss of five wickets as Joe Mansfield top scored with 59 and Dewi Davies made 38.

Crymych kept alive their promotion hopes with a six-wicket win over previous leaders Narberth Seconds at Glandy Cross.

Narberth made 138-5 and in reply Crymych got the runs for the loss of four wickets as Richard Thorne was unbeaten on 71.
