PEMBROKESHIRE CRICKET

To say it was a bad day at the office for Llechryd was an understatement as the Division Two promotion aspirants crashed to a ten-wicket defeat at Burton.

The Teifisiders had closed the gap on second-in-the-table Narberth to 18 points but although those rivals suffered a home defeat at the hands of leaders Llangwm they gained seven points on Llechryd with four fixtures

remaining.

Put in on a lively wicket Llechryd struggled against medium pacers James Davies (4-12), Luke Hayman (3-17) and Morgan Scale (2-8) who bowled

line and length to restrict the visitors to a total of 61.

Ollie Richards (20) and James Betterley (14) put up some resistance but their colleagues failed to make an impression.

As Burton raced to victory without losing a wicket Martin Jones showed it was possible to get runs on the wicket as he made an unbeaten 43.

Crymych's promotion hopes in Division Four were dealt a blow as the Preselimen went down by 49 runs against visitors Hook 2nds at Glandy Cross.

Hook posted a total of 124 with Brennan Lay top scorer on 39 and Nick

Absalom contributing 33.

James George made 20 for Crymych but wickets tumbled and the homesters were all out for 75 as Absalom (3-12), Andrew Thomas (3-18) and Lloyd Grayshon (2-7) kept things extremely tight.

Second in the table Llechryd 2nds were frustrated by the weather at the

RDM Oval where visitors St Ishmaels 2nds were on 78-6 after 25 overs when the game was abandoned.

Martin Kiff (3-20) and Peter Gregory (1-15) did the damage.
