IT PROVED a bridge too far for Cardigan darter Jamie Lewis in round two of the PDC BetVictor World Matchplay tournament at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool when he was swept aside 13-2 by top seed Michael van Gerwen of Holland.
The 23-year-old Welshman will undoubtedly perform to the same standard and win games in the future but he came up against van Gerwen at his brilliant best – the Dutchman had the fourth highest average (110.93) in the 22-year history of the tournament.
