WILD winds tore through Pembrokeshire last weekend, leaving homes without power, trees down and vehicles damaged.

Both lanes of the A477 between Llanteg and Kilgetty, were closed on Sunday due to a fallen tree.

A tree in the grounds of Wolfscastle Country Hotel was another victim of the gales in the early hours of Sunday morning, damaging two cars parked nearby and being promptly dealt with by tree surgeons.

"We are very sorry to the two people who had their cars damaged in the wild storm and just thankful there were no injuries," said Mandy Stirling on behalf of the hotel.

On Sunday morning around 140 Pembrokeshire homes were without power as gale force winds lashed the coast of west Wales.

Western Power said they had been kept busy with a series of power cuts across the county.

Dyfed-Powys Police experienced high call volumes over fallen trees and other incidents, urging members of the public to only call if the situation was urgent.
