Smearing faeces on a police cell led to a Haverfordwest man being sentenced to two weeks in prison.
Darren John Connolly, of North Street, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates via video link from Swansea prison on Tuesday, January 15.
The court heard that Connolly, 34, damaged a Haverfordwest police cell by smearing faecal matter on December 22.
Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, said the cleaning bill was £250
Jonathan Webb, defending, said it was an ‘unpleasant offence’, adding that Connolly had recently received a custodial for a similar incident.
“It’s not normal behaviour and he does not know why he has committed this offence. He has sought a mental health assessment as to why he did it.”
Magistrates sentenced Connolly to 14 days in prison and ordered him to pay £250 compensation, £85 court costs and a £115 surcharge.
