LOCAL members of the RSPCA are starting a campaign against plans to cull badgers in north Pembrokeshire as part of the Welsh Assembly Government's strategy to combat bovine TB.
They are urging all members and supporters to write to their AM and to sign the RSPCA website petition.
Consultation is due to start soon following the statement by rural affairs minister Elin Jones that the area will be used for a pilot cull.
"The RSPCA nationally is urging everyone to campaign against this decision by writing to their AMs and signing the online petition. Many local people are already doing this," said secretary of the charity's Ceredigion branch, Frances Miller.
The RSPCA says scientific evidence shows that a cull is not the answer and it adds that a study published by WAG showed that seven out of eight badgers found dead in Wales were clear of TB.
