Drivers in court accused of speeding and drink-driving

THESE drivers have had their cases heard in court recently.

The defendants were accused of drink-driving and speeding.

Their cases were heard at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

ANGHARAD CLARKE, 25, of Ridgeway in Cardigan, was caught speeding on the A487.

Clarke was driving a Vauxhall Grandland on the A487 at Sarnau at just after 6pm on April 7. The court heard that she was clocked by a manned speed camera doing 57mph in a 40mph limit.

She pleaded guilty, and had four points added to her licence at Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on November 6.

Clarke was also sentenced to pay a £128 fine, £120 in costs, and a £51 surcharge.        

GERWYN EVANS, 37, of High Street in St Dogmaels, was more than double the drink-drive limit when stopped by police.

Evans was behind the wheel of an Abarth 595 on St Dogmaels Road in Cardigan on October 14.

When breathalysed, he recorded having 79 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Evans pleaded guilty at Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on October 29, and was fined £323.

He must also pay £85 in costs and a £129 surcharge, and was banned from driving for one year and eight months.
