A renowned poet is set to host a special evening of readings.

Menna Elfyn, hailed as one of Wales’s most influential poets, will be at Canolfan Bethlehem, Newport, Pembrokeshire, on Wednesday, November 12, at 6.30pm.

The evening will feature readings in both Welsh and English from her new collection, Parch, which is her sixth collection with Bloodaxe.

The collection includes English translations and new poems exploring themes of language, identity, respect, and justice.

The Bethlehem Centre has been a hub for heritage talks since reopening in March 2025.

The venue has hosted more than 25 heritage talks, proving to be a valuable asset to the community.

Over the summer, the centre drew in more than 230 people for the Seal Bay talk, which discussed international incidents on the Newport coastline.

The old chapel, which houses the Bethlehem Centre, was purchased by community heritage and cultural supporters in September 2024.

The community is currently awaiting the outcome of heritage grant bids to transform the chapel site into a modern heritage visitor centre.

The centre encourages people to attend the event to support the community campaign.
