A beach popular for its golden sand and watersports is our beach of the week.

Llangrannog Beach, which sits below a series of cliffs, was once part of a rural village attached to a port but is now a popular destination for beach lovers.

The sandy beach, which is part of the scenic Wales Coast Path, is family-friendly and has lifeguards over the summer months.

It is popular for watersports, with activities including surfing, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing.

At low tide, the beach links to Cilborth Beach to the north, and there is a cliff-top path between the two beaches.

Llangrannog Beach has several facilities, including a café/restaurant, first aid point, shop, slipway, and a lost child centre.

Visitors can also hire deck chairs, but parking is charged.

There is a free car park half a mile away.

The beach is dog-friendly but from May 1 to September 30, dogs are banned on the west side of the beach.

Llangrannog Beach has been awarded a Blue Flag and has a water quality star rating.

The beach has received a number of positive reviews from visitors.

One visitor in June 2021 said: "A lovely beach with golden sand and caves for the kids to explore.

"The north side is dog-friendly.

"At low tide, you can walk to the next beach.

"Nice walks over the cliffs.

"Lots of nice pubs and cafés."

Another who visited in April 2020, said: "What a great beach, always clean and tidy, good food in local pubs and the café is awesome, could not help us enough, will be back many times."

A third who visited in July 2023, said: "Stayed in a lovely house over the cliffs with grandchildren surrounded by fields and sheep, loved the cliff walks and beach, great memories for life."

The beach is located in the village of Llangrannog, which is home to a number of pubs and cafés, and sits close to neighbouring Ynys Lochtyn, a small peninsula with an island just off its coast that is home to a seal colony.
