Here’s a round-up of the cases.
STEPHEN MCGANN, 50, of near Cardigan, asked someone to get in touch with someone he was banned from contacting.
McGann pleaded guilty to assault by beating against a woman on May 1 at an address in St Dogmaels.
At Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on June 5, he was made the subject of an unlimited restraining order.
However, McGann came back before the court after he asked a third party at the Saddlers Arms in Cardigan on March 24 to pass a message on to the victim – which he was banned from doing.
The defendant pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on April 4, and was ordered to pay a £200 fine and £85 in costs.
GARETH JONES, 64, of Llangybi, was driving carelessly when overtaking a cyclist on the A485.
Jones was driving a tractor and trailer on the A485 at Llangybi on September 24. The defendant went to overtake a cyclist, but passed them “extremely closely” and didn’t leave enough room to pass safely.
The incident was captured on the witnesses’ camera, and the court heard that the defendant’s standard of driving “fell well below that of a careful and competent driver”.
Jones pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, and was fined £111 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on April 9.
He must also pay £110 in costs and a £44 surcharge, and had three points added to his licence.
THOMAS WILLIAMS, 29, of Llanfihangel-ar-arth, has been disqualified after being caught drug-driving.
Williams was behind the wheel of Ford Transit at Croeslan on October 16. When tested, he recorded having 191 micrograms of benzoylecgonine - the main metabolite of cocaine - per litre (µg/L) of blood.
The legal limit - to exclude accidental exposure - is 50µg/L.
Williams pleaded not guilty to driving whilst under the influence of drugs, but was found guilty at a trial on April 10 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant was banned from driving for three years, and was sentenced to a 12-month community order.
Williams must complete 80 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days, and must pay £85 in costs and a £114 surcharge.
SONIA GIBBON, of Llanwnnen, was found guilty of keeping an untaxed vehicle.
Gibbon was accused of having a Mitsubishi L200 on College Street in Lampeter on August 23 when its tax had run out on May 31.
The defendant pleaded not guilty on February 21, but was found guilty after an offence of using a vehicle without a valid vehicle licence was proved in her absence at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on April 11.
Gibbon was fined £220 and was ordered to pay £140 in costs and £35 in vehicle excise back duty.
