THESE defendants have had their cases heard in court recently.

The men were charged with a racially aggravated offence, assaulting a police officer, and drug driving.

Their cases were heard at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of their cases.                                                                   

PETER GILMORE, 50, of Bryn Salem in Felinfach, admitted a racially aggravated offence and assaulting a police officer.

The racially aggravated offence was alleged to have taken place on Great Darkgate Street in Aberystwyth on March 30.

Gilmore was also accused of assaulting a police officer at Aberystwyth police station on that same date.

He pleaded guilty to both offences.

Gilmore was sentenced to an 18-month community order at Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on April 24, as part of which he must complete a six-month alcohol treatment programme and 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

He must pay a £60 fine, £85 in costs, a £114 surcharge, and £50 in compensation.

SAMUEL EVANS, 21, of Rhydargaeau, was caught driving high on cannabis.

Evans was driving a Volkswagen Golf on Aberystwyth Road in Cardigan on November 8 last year. When tested, he recorded having 6.9 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre (µg/L) of blood.

The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L.

Evans pleaded guilty at Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on April 24.

He was fined £120 and must pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge. Evans was banned from driving for a year.
