There will be changes to train timetables across Wales.

Transport for Wales (TfW) has completed a major review aiming to meet new customer needs post-covid and strategize for future growth.

Some routes will see more trains and seats, while others will face alterations to accommodate current needs.

The new timetable will affect many west Wales routes.

Changes include: an increased service to and from Milford Haven and Haverfordwest; an hourly service between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury running from May to September from 2026; and additional services between Swansea and Tenby during peak seasons from 2025 onwards.

However, the Heart of Wales Line will see a reduction in services from December 2024, with four instead of five a day, and the removal of the Llandovery and Llandrindod evening services.

TfW plans to maintain its £800 million investment in new trains across its network.

Colin Lea, planning and performance director said: "We’ve completed our future timetable review.

"The proposed new timetables will provide us with more resilience in the winter period and meet changed travel demands post Covid.

"Nearly every service that TfW operates requires public subsidy, and as a responsible operator it’s imperative for TfW to balance the needs for a regular, robust and reliable service with available budgets to deliver value for taxpayers and more sustainable transport."

TfW is dedicated to delivering these changes in the coming years.

As part of the ongoing strategy, TfW will keep their customers updated and informed on the latest developments as they move forward.
