TWO landlords of Lampeter properties were not registered under the Housing Act, a court ruled.

The first landlord, Patrick OKeeffee, of Llanybydder, was found guilty of three charges relating to the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 by Cardiff Magistrates Court on November 16 in his absence.

All three charges related to properties in Cysgod-Y-Coed, Cwmann, Lampeter and listed as taking place around January 16, this year.

The first charge was that he was the landlord of a property on Cysgod-Y-Cwm and marketed it or offered it for let under a domestic tenancy, however, he was not registered under Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.

The second charge was that he was the landlord of a second property on Cysgod-Y-Cwm and marketed it or offered it for let under a domestic tenancy, however, he was not registered under Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.

The third charge was that he was the landlord of a domestic tenancy for both properties on Cysgod-Y-Cwm and unlawfully was the principal point of contact for the tenant in relation to matters arising under the tenancy when he was not entitled to do so under Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.

He was fined a total of £880 and ordered to pay £352 surcharge and £303.87 costs.

The second landlord, David Eirfyl Evans, of Ciliau Aeron, Lampeter, was also found guilty in his absence by Cardiff Magistrates Court on November 16 for being unregistered.

He faced one charge of being the landlord of a dwelling in Lampeter which was subject to a domestic tenancy, but he failed to be registered under Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.

He was ordered to pay £220 fine, £88 surcharge and £558.22 costs.
