AN English performance of Carwyn will be taking place in Ceredigion this month.

Theatr Felinfach in Dyffryn Aeron will be welcoming the one-man show for one night only in October.

The show is presented by Bale and Thomas in association with the Torch Theatre, Theatr Felinfach and RCT Theatres.

The co-operation has seen rehearsals take place at Theatr Felinfach, with the show opening at the theatre ahead of a Wales-wide tour.

The show tells the story of Carwyn James, one of Wales’ beloved rugby coaches, 40 years after his death. It covers his life as a coach, teacher, broadcaster and even espionage, and was written by Owen Thomas and is directed by Gareth John Bale.

Carwyn will be brought back to life by actor Simon Nehan, with Tegan Reg James and Ceri James as the show and lighting designers respectively.

Dwynwen Lloyd Llewelyn, head of Theatr Felinfach, said: “It’s a privilege to welcome Bale and Thomas to Theatr Felinfach once again as they prepare for their tour of the drama Carwyn.

“Carwyn James was one of Wales’ giants, as a bright and innovative rugby coach and a man who loved his land, language and country.”

Mr Bale said: “It’s a big pleasure working alongside Theatr Felinfach on this production of Carwyn. I’ve been touring to Theatr Felinfach for over 20 years and there’s always a warm welcome there.

“I know everyone will work hard to ensure the performance and tour of Carwyn succeeds. Felinfach isn’t far from Rhydlewis – an area close to Carwyn’s heart. So, it makes sense that we open the production in the Theatr and area.”

Carwyn will be performed at Theatr Felinfach on Monday, October 10. For more information or to buy tickets, visit www.theatrfelinfach.cymru or contact 01570 470697 or email theatrfelinfach@ceredigion.gov.uk between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
