There is good news for electric vehicle owners throughout Ceredigion following confirmation that additional charge-points are being installed across the county.

Cardigan’s new points will be in the Greenfield Square Car park (to the rear of the Guildhall), and the Leisure Centre on North Road.

Other charge points will include Llandysul car park, Rock Street/Paragon car park and Church Road car park, both in New Quay, the main Ceredigion County Council offices in Aberaeron, Regent Street car park, Aberaeron, and the Rookery car park in Tregaron.

Most of the charge-points installed by the council are ‘fast’ charge-points that use a Type 2 charging cable and take between three and four hours to charge depending on the type and number of vehicles plugged in.

‘Rapid’ charge-points are also being installed in some of the car parks including Cwmins, Lampeter and Greenfield Square, Cardigan. Information on how to use these charge-points is available on the Dragon Charging Network website, via the Dragon Charging App and at the charge-points themselves.

Meanwhile the council is urging other public, private and community-based organisations to play their part in meeting the growth in demand for electric vehicles.

“The poor availability of charge-points is known to be a significant barrier to the take-up of EVs,” commented a council spokesperson.

It is hoped that further locations will follow when funding becomes available.

The nearest EV charge-points can be found on Zap Map: http://www.zap-map.com/ or by using their app.
