A MAN assaulted his partner just weeks after being released from prison for a previous attack on her.

Anthony Marshall, 29, of Maescader in Pencader, was reported for assaulting his partner in the doorway of a shop on Saturday, April 29.

He had been released from prison three weeks earlier – having served a sentence for a previous attack on the same victim.

The victim was reluctant to make a statement against Marshall out of fear of what he would do.

However, due to the risk he posed towards her, officers began an evidence-led prosecution, meaning the incident was investigated without the victim needing to be questioned or to attend court.

The assault had been caught on CCTV, and officers also obtained disclosures made by the victim when she called 999 and while speaking to officers.

Marshall was charged with assault by beating.

He appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 3 – just four days after the offence – where he was jailed for 12 weeks.
