A LLANDYSUL hospice is aiming to remove the stigma surrounding talking about death with a special café.

Skanda Vale Hospice in Saron, Llandysul, will be hosting a ‘death café’ as part of the Dying Matters Awareness Week (May 8-14) with the aim of removing the stress and stigma surrounding the topic.

It is never easy to talk about death, but the hospice is hoping that getting people talking in a relaxed environment will help to ease the stigma.

The Dying Matters campaign is a national campaign organised by Hospice UK aiming to get people talking and sharing stories about dying and grief to reduce the stress, stigma and social and emotional isolation that comes with bereavement or diagnosis of a life-limiting illness.

The death café will be held at Skanda Vale Hospice on Saron Road, Saron, Llandysul, on Saturday, May 13 from 10.30am to midday and all are welcome to attend for tea and cake and to share thoughts, experiences and ideas about end of life, dying, death and bereavement in a safe, non-judgemental space.

Skanda Vale Hospice provides care and support to those with life-limiting illnesses free of charge. Anyone who could benefit from the services can contact the hospice on hello@skandavalehospice.org or by calling 01559 371222.

The hospice is also looking for volunteers who can dedicate time and a variety of skills. Anyone interested can contact volunteers@skandavalehospice.org
