HER MAJESTY the Queen's head has been projected onto the wall of Cardigan Castle as the nation continues its period of mourning.

Cardigan town councillors arranged the projection with permission from the castle.

Meanwhile Ceredigion County Council will be running ‘minimal’ services on Monday, which has been declared a National Bank Holiday for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral.

Schools in Ceredigion will be closed as well as Ceredigion training, leisure centres and swimming pools owned by the council - and there will be no waste collection services on the day.

Harbour offices will be closed and local bus companies are likely to operate a limited service.

A council statement said: "Monday 19 September 2022 has been declared a National Bank Holiday for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral.

"The Bank Holiday will allow individuals to pay their respect to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign. The Council will be running minimal services as it will be a National Bank Holiday.

"The following services run by the Council will be closed on Monday 19 September: Ceredigion Training; Ceredigion Libraries; Harbour offices; Household Waste Sites; Leisure Centres; Schools; Swimming Pools and Waste Collections."
