A NEWSCASTLE Emlyn woman who stole two bottles of wine and a bottle of cider from Cardigan's Spar store has appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates for sentence.

Nicola Peeling, 37, of Red Cow Annexe, Adpar, pleaded guilty to the charge of theft when she appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates earlier this week.

Magistrates heard that cctc cameras positioned inside the store captured images of Peeling removing four bottles of wine and a bottle of cider from the shelves and placing them inside a bag.

"She then dashed out of the store without offering payment," said Crown Prosecutor Ann Griffiths.

Peeling was represented in court by Peter Tarr.

"Even though my client has a number of previous convictions including a number of shop lifting offences in 2017, she has been trying to turn her life around and has had no convictions since 2020," he said.

Mr Tarr added that Peeling is currently being offered support by the Dyfed Drugs and Alcohol Service.

She was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 costs.  She was also ordered to pay £43.79 compensation to Spar.
