Police officers attended a Lampeter address in the second episode of Rookie Cops, the new BBC documentary focusing on new officers in Dyfed-Powys police force, which was screened last night (Monday, April 18).

Sections of the show focused on Lisa, and her tutor Gus, as they went to the address of a man who had breached a domestic violence protection order (DVPO).

Lisa and Gus went to the address, and Lisa spoke to the man after he had regained consciousness, with police concerned for his safety and welfare.

A spokesperson from Dyfed-Powys Police said: “A DVPO, as Lisa just mentioned, is just one tool we use to protect victims of domestic abuse.

“It’s an order which prevents a suspect from contacting a victim. If breached results in the suspect being arrested and placed before a court.

“Talking is often key to defusing any situation. While to a passer-by it may seem strange seeing Lisa sat on the pavement with the man here – this opportunity for him to talk things through has huge benefits all round.”

Other parts of the episode looked at Phil in Llanelli who went to the address of a man wanted for actual bodily harm and stalking, and Stuart who was on the search for a dog trapped in a hot van on a summer’s day at Broad Haven beach.

The next episode airs on Monday, April 25, with the first and second episode available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
