Costcutter Ceredigion League: Round-up by John Adey

Heads were turned in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one as Ffostrasol Wanderers avenged a home defeat a fortnight ago by beating St Dogmaels 2-1 at School Field.

The reigning champions opened the scoring when Rhys Jones picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area and fired past Gary Jones into the bottom corner of the net.

But Cian Edwards brought the visitors back on level terms when rising to meet a free kick and heading home past Steff Marsden.

Before the break, Edwards slotted home a rebounded effort to take the lead, and Ffostrasol held firm in the second half, while midfielders Alun Bowen, Iolo Thomas and Steffan Jackson stamped their authority, with keeper Gary Jones in great form.

Cardigan Town crashed 3-0 against visitors Llanboidy at King George V Playing Field, after trailing by a solitary goal at the break through Gethin Schofield, who finished in style.

Tomos Roberts fired a second goal for the visitors and an Ifan Phillips header wrapped it up.

After promotion at the first time of asking Crymych are doing nicely in division one, the unbeaten run continuing with an emphatic 8-0 win against Dewi Stars at Llanddewi Brefi.

Sion Vaughan scored four goals and the other marksmen were Eilir George, who netted twice, and Ifan Davies and Gethin Evans.

The visitors led by three goals after the first ten minutes and it was all over bar the shouting before the interval as they soared six goals clear.

League newcomers Llechryd have set the second division alight from the word go and continued in rip-roaring form with a 12-0 away win over the other new boys Pencader United.

Daniel Davies scored five goals, with Jack Everton, Josh Grota, Ben Davies, Jac Blackford, Liam James, John Curran and Cory Leonard-Davies also on scoring.

Mathew Newbold scored twice as Aberporth opened their account with a hard-earned 4-3 win over visitors Aberaeron Reserves, with Adam Narbett and Reece Prowse also netting.

Jack Davies, with a brace, and Huw Evans had replied for Aberaeron.

Meanwhile Crannog Reserves were unable to raise a side to face Bargod Rangers, as were Llandysul Reserves against St Dogmaels Reserves.

In division three, Gruffudd Edwards scored a hat-trick and Serdar Acikgoz netted once as Crymych Reserves won 4-1 against Llechryd Reserves, who scored through Justin Noble.

Kieran Ellis and Steffan Davies both scored twice as Ffostrasol Reserves hammered Cardigan Town Reserves 7-0, with Llyr Jones, Carwyn Griffiths and Hywel Dafis also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Leaders Llanilar Reserves beat Felinfach Reserves 4-1, with goals from Thomas Haines, Steffan Jenkins, Lewis Sim and Jac Morris, with Dyfan Evans finding the back of the net for the visiting side.
