CEREDIGION MS Elin Jones has intervened following reports that people requiring Covid vaccinations and booster jabs were unable to travel to the Cwm Cou centre.

In recent weeks the Tivy-Side has received numerous complaints that those lacking transport were struggling to attend the vaccination hub in the former primary school just outside Newcastle Emlyn.

Now Ms Jones has revealed that Hywel Dda Health Board can arrange transport to ensure people can travel to Cwm Cou for their jabs.

“I have been assured that transport support is in place for those who cannot attend their appointment by any other means,” she said.

“It is arranged via the Hywel Dda Command Centre by calling 0300 303 8322 or by emailing covidenquiries.hdd@wales.nhs.uk”

One woman who received her booster jab at Cwm Cou this week said: “The problem seems to be that people don’t know that transport can be arranged and may not go for their vaccinations as a result.”

The setting up of the mass vaccination centre at the former Trewen Primary School has been dogged with problems.

Some patients claimed they were not told that moves to open it had been delayed and last month saw complaints of lengthy delays and queues.
