Restrictions on taking rubbish to recycling centres according to registration numbers will be scrapped across Ceredigion

When recycling centres reopened last year, rules were put in place to limit the number of vehicles visiting household waste and recycling sites.

After lockdown, only vehicles with evenly numbered registration plates were permitted to attend on even dates, and odd numbered plates on odd dates.

Ceredigion County Council has now announced that rule at sites at Cardigan, Llanarth, Lampeter and Aberystwyth will be scrapped from November 1.

"The Coronavirus control measures in place at Ceredigion’s Household Waste Sites have been under continual review since the sites reopened in summer 2020," said statement.

"The latest review, which takes into account the reduced use of the sites over the winter period, has resulted in some changes which will take effect on November 1.

"The odd and even registration number plate system will be suspended, and the opening hours will revert to pre-coronavirus.

"All other measures remain in place and residents are reminded to respect the site attendants and follow instructions on site.

"All of the coronavirus control measures and site rules will continue to be reviewed and are subject to change.

"Household Waste Sites in Ceredigion are provided for the use of Ceredigion residents only. Site users are reminded that they may be asked to provide proof of residency."

Opening hours are as follows: Aberystwyth, Lampeter and Cardigan, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays, 10am to 3pm; Llanarth, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
